In the last days of the coronavirus pandemic, we took a quick trip out to get our bodies moving a bit, frozen at home. Everything was still according to the 2+2 rules and with a group of up to ten people. Swimming against the current of a regular river or sea trip, we chose the Kooraste lake system as our route, which consisted of 11 lakes and the streams connecting them on our route. Namely, streams that often couldn't even be navigated by canoe, which is why we were able to jump in and out of the canoe a lot in addition to rowing. We started the ride behind the Vidrikes village house and rowed a total of 11,2 kilometers. We reached the finish line two minutes earlier than the expected duration of the hike. So, in total, we had another 3 hours and 58 minutes, of which we were actively moving for 2:55:56 (according to the GPS clock).
It is also not recommended to fly a drone while you are in a canoe on the water, because otherwise the friendly aircraft will want to return to its starting point, so you need to be a skilled pilot when landing in the canoe. It was quite difficult to fly the drone with one hand and land on it at the same time :)
To end the hike, we had lunch at a campfire site on the lakeshore and enjoyed the company of people who were far away but still close for months due to the emergency situation. A pleasant activity that tired us out and left us feeling pleasantly stiff for the next day.
Have an active summer and see you next time!
Kaspar
