Important information
Adventure X is open to all who wish, but it should be borne in mind that it is still a rather challenging journey. Therefore, assess your fitness and ability adequately and choose a distance that is within your reach. However, this disclaimer should not discourage you, it is a fun and exciting event!
COMPETITION CENTER: START AND FINISH
The competition center, or start and finish, is located by Lake Viljandi. At the Viljandi rowing baseA more detailed map of the competition center will be included in the pre-competition information letter. When you arrive, follow the Seiklus signs.
Before going to the track, you must go through the competition center, where we will register you and give you competition materials. There is a toilet available at the competition center.
The start will be a mass start. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time so that you have time to pick up your starting materials, attach your numbers to your bike and clothes, and go to the start area 15 minutes before the start. Race cards will be available at the start area 10 minutes before the start.
PARKING
You can park in public parking lots in Viljandi. The closest ones are at both ends of Ranna Boulevard. When parking, please make sure not to block other cars and to maintain the ability to move on the roads. In addition, follow the parking regulations in the area so that participating in the event does not result in a fine. The car key can be left in the starting area during the race, attaching the race number to it with tape and a marker. Afterwards, you will receive the car key based on the race number. We will specify the parking regulations in the pre-race information letter.
COURSE
Short track: (technically simple)
Winner's time: 3 hours
Bike: 20 km
Running: 5 km
Canoe: 2 km
This trail is a great first adventure if you are in average physical shape, have children in your team, or are afraid of orienteering. The distances are pleasantly short and the areas change quickly. You can also come here with the goal of not doing any running and you will have the opportunity to check out the coolest places in the area.
Standard course: (technically exciting)
Winner's time: 5 hours
Bike: 40 km
Running: 12 km
Canoe: 7 km
This trail requires physical endurance. If you walk at a leisurely pace, it will take you a whole day to complete the trail. However, don't worry if you're slower than the others, the finish line is open until at least midnight. Orienteering here is a bit more challenging than on the short trail.
Adventure course: (technically and lengthwise difficult)
Winner's time: 7 hours
Bike: 60 km
Running: 20 km
Canoe: 10 km
A trail for athletes. The distances are long and it takes work to get from one transition area to another. This doesn't mean you can't take it easy. With a leisurely bike ride and a light jog during the running stages, you can easily complete the trail in 11-12 hours. There are stages on this trail that require technical orientation.
The trail is circular, meaning the start and finish are in the same place. The trail passes through various hiking trails, light traffic roads, and side roads around Viljandi, which can be dirt roads, gravel roads, and asphalt roads. However, if you want to cut, there is no trail in front of you in between.
The course is varied and interesting. The course is completed using the principle of orienteering, i.e. you have to collect all the points marked on the map in the correct order. But note that some points do not have to be taken by all team members and in some stages you do not have to take the points in a certain order. More detailed information can be read on the map, follow it carefully.
There are practically no trail markings or direction signs on the trail (except in the transition areas), so it is strongly recommended to use an orienteering compass. The sun sets at 22:07. Since the sum of orientation errors made on the trail can consume an unexpectedly large amount of time, a headlamp is recommended on the standard and adventure trails.
The time on the course is measured using the SI system. At the start, it is checked that all competitors have a stick on their wrist with the wristband provided by the organizers and removing the stick or exchanging it with team members is not allowed. At the start, make sure that the stick is zeroed and checked. This can be done at the start corridor. The standard course and adventure course must have a stick with 128 marking points (transparent plastic or SI Air).
If the wristband is broken or shows obvious signs of being untied at the finish, the team member's points will be cancelled. Therefore, it is recommended to tape over the wristband before the start, just in case. If you have not used the SI marking system before, feel free to ask the organizers in the orange vest for help before the start.
CATERING AND SNACK/BEVERAGE POINTS
There is also a service point in the canoe-bike-run transition area on the trail. Since there are several service points on the trail, you don't have to worry about going hungry on the trail. The service points are well-stocked with snacks. However, the golden rule of long-term active activities is to eat evenly at least once an hour, so it is wise to bring bars and sports gels with you to the trail. In addition, it is strongly recommended to bring water, which is wise to keep in a backpack with a hydration system.
At the finish line, participants will be offered hot food and tea for refreshment.
The snack bar is staffed with cheerful helpers.
TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION
There is no organized transportation and the course is circular (start and finish are in the same place). When it comes to transportation, we recommend using the help of family or acquaintances if possible so that you don't have to drive the long way back when you're tired. We also recommend combining cars so that everyone doesn't burn fuel sitting alone in the car.
There is no official overnight stay. If desired, you must find your own accommodation. It is possible to stay overnight in various accommodation facilities in Viljandi, for example. In addition, there are many RMK camping sites in the area.
COMPETITION MATERIALS
Competition materials can be collected from 9.00 to 10.50:XNUMX. If there is a queue when distributing starting materials, let earlier starters go first so that no one is late to the starting line.
Each competitor will receive the following materials from the starting point before entering the track:
Number vest - wear over clothing, but not over a life jacket
Rattan number - reusable, return at the finish line
(SI stick) and wristband
The starting corridor opens 15 minutes before the start time. Race cards can be obtained from the starting area 10 minutes before the start.
INTERRUPTION AND EMERGENCIES
In case of serious injuries or a life-threatening incident, call first. emergency number 112 and then notify the organizing team if possible (+ 372 5173600, Kaarel or +372 5046600, Hannes). Please save the numbers of the organizing team in your phone so that you can contact us in case of problems.
If your energy reserves are completely exhausted and you can no longer continue on your own, the first thing to do is sit down and rest. Fatigue, motivation and willpower are fluctuating. Eat something sweet to raise your blood sugar and regain your strength. If things are really bad, inform the organizing team and we will come to pick you up. If possible, stop at the marked points where it is easier for us to pick you up. We ask that you do not use this option as a convenience service, as the organizing team's resources are limited and are intended primarily for emergencies. The cancellation fee is €15/team if you call the organizing team to pick you up. In addition, let us know if you have the strength but it seems that the control time will not fit, then we will wait for you.
Also, be caring and help fellow fighters if you see someone in trouble.
PRIZES AND TIMETABLE
All successful finishers will be awarded with congratulations and a medal. Timing will be done using the SI marking system. Any missed points will result in a 15-minute penalty for each competitor (45 minutes in the individual class). A prize will be awarded to the winning team in each competition class (Adventure and Standard).
