Adventure x Põlva
Why take on something that seems crazy and difficult at first glance? Sure, by the finish line, you’ll be tired, and maybe a few muscles will ache. But that will fade in a few days, while the memory of searching for the right checkpoint will stay with you for a lifetime. Along the way, you’ll probably ask yourself more than once: “Why am I doing this?” Take a break. Sit on a tree stump, lift your eyes from the map, and look around. Estonia really is breathtaking. The trail has been carefully designed by the Trail Master to lead you through the most magical hidden corners of the region — places you wouldn’t stumble upon from a simple walk in from the parking lot. But don’t get too lost in the birdsong — how frustrating would it be if someone else caught up to you now? Grab the paddle or push the pedals — and get moving again. The low point will pass before you notice, and the sense of satisfaction will return.

COMPETITION CENTER: START AND FINISH
The competition center, or start and finish, is located at the Põlva Wakepark beach complex (see on Google Maps). A more detailed map of the competition center will be included in the pre-competition information letter. When you arrive, follow the Seiklus signs.
Before going to the track, you must go through the competition center, where we will register you and give you competition materials. There is a toilet available at the competition center.
The start will be a mass start. We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time so that you have time to pick up your starting materials, attach your numbers to your bike and clothes, and go to the start area 10 minutes before the start.
The Wakepark is also open on race day. If you have any energy left after finishing the course, you can do a few laps on the lake with a waterboard, visit the café, or enjoy other Wakepark amenities. You can find the Wakepark price list FROM HERE.
PARKING
You can park in the parking lots and streets near Põlva beach according to traffic regulations. When parking, make sure that you do not block other cars and gates or obstruct traffic. Also, follow the valid parking and traffic regulations. We will specify the parking regulations in the pre-race information letter.
TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION
There is no organized transportation and the course is circular (the start and finish are in the same place). When it comes to transportation, we recommend using the help of family or acquaintances if possible so that you don't have to travel the long distance back when you're tired.
There is no official overnight stay. If desired, you must find your own accommodation. It is possible to stay overnight, for example Nest in the hotel, which is within walking distance from the start. For camping enthusiasts - there are also picturesque To Otten ja Fern campfire sites.
COMPETITION MATERIALS
Competition materials can be collected from 9.00 to 11.50:XNUMX. If there is a queue when distributing starting materials, let earlier starters go first so that no one is late to the starting line.
Each competitor will receive the following materials from the starting point before entering the track:
Race number (+ safety pins)
Wheel number
SI stick and wristband
The start corridor opens 10 minutes before the start time. You can also pick up your cards there.
COURSE
The trail is circular, meaning the start and finish are in the same place. The trail passes through various hiking trails, light traffic roads, and side roads in Põlva County, which can be dirt roads, gravel roads, and asphalt roads. However, if you want to cut, there is no trail in front of you in between.
The course is diverse and interesting. The canoe stage takes place on the picturesque Saesaare (read: Taevaskoja) reservoir. The course is completed using the principle of orienteering, i.e. you have to collect all the points marked on the map in the correct order. But note that not all team members have to collect some points. More detailed information can be read on the map, follow it carefully.
There are practically no trail markings or direction signs on the trail (except in the transition areas), so it is strongly recommended to use an orienteering compass. The sun sets at 19.13:XNUMX, so a headlamp will come in handy when walking very leisurely on the long trail.
The time on the track is measured using the SI system. At the start, it is checked that all competitors have their stick on their wrists and removing the stick or exchanging it with team members is not allowed. At the start, make sure that the stick is zeroed and checked. This can be done at the start corridor.
If the wristband is broken or shows obvious signs of being untied at the finish, the team member's points will be cancelled. Therefore, it is recommended to tape over the wristband before the start, just in case. If you have not used the SI marking system before, feel free to ask the organizers wearing the orange vest for help before the start.
CATERING AND SNACK/BEVERAGE POINTS
There is also a service point in the canoe-bike-run transition area on the trail. Since there is exactly 1 service point on the trail, but it is passed several times, you don't have to worry about hunger on the trail. The service point is well-stocked with snacks. However, the golden rule of long active activities is to eat evenly at least once an hour, so it is wise to bring bars and sports gels with you to the trail. In addition, it is strictly recommended to bring water, which is wise to keep in a backpack with a hydration system.
At the finish, participants will be offered warm soup and tea for refreshment.
The snack bar is staffed with cheerful helpers.
INTERRUPTION AND EMERGENCIES
In case of serious injuries or a life-threatening incident, call first. emergency number 112 and then notify the organizing team if possible (+ 372 5173600, Kaarel or +372 5046600, Hannes). Please save the numbers of the organizing team in your phone so that you can contact us in case of problems.
If your energy reserves are completely exhausted and you can no longer continue on your own, the first thing to do is sit down and rest. Fatigue, motivation, and willpower are fluctuating quantities. Eat something sweet to raise your blood sugar and regain your strength. If things are really bad, inform the organizing team and we will come to pick you up. If possible, stop at the marked points where it is easier for us to pick you up. We ask that you do not use this option as a convenience service, as the organizing team's resources are limited and are intended primarily for emergencies. In addition, let us know if you have the strength but it seems that the control time will not fit, so we will wait for you.
Also, be caring and help fellow fighters if you see someone in trouble.
PRIZES AND TIMETABLE
All successful finishers will be awarded with congratulations and a medal. Timing will be done using the SI marking system. Any missed points will result in a 15-minute penalty for each competitor. A prize will be awarded to the winning team in each competition class.
RULES
The course must be completed under your own power (i.e. you cannot exchange SI poles).
We ask that you do not damage the vegetation and nature while walking along the trail.
Please be respectful of local residents.
Littering and any form of pollution of nature is strictly prohibited. All trash must be taken with you or thrown into a trash bag at one of the drinking points.
You must wear a helmet when cycling and a life jacket when canoeing.
In case of serious violation of the rules, the organizers have the right to disqualify the participant... so far this has not been necessary, we will continue in the same spirit. :)
Equipment
The list of mandatory equipment has been compiled to ensure the participant's visibility and findability on the trail and the ability to survive independently in the event of getting lost or in an emergency until help arrives.
Everyone must bring their own bike and helmet. You don't need a special mountain bike, a simple bike without shock absorbers will do. A road bike is not suitable. A gravel bike may be uncomfortable.
