Hiking along the Portuguese coast
Places for this trip are full!
It is still possible to join both the spring Korfu as well as autumn Elba with island walking tours.
A hiking trip along the Portuguese coast is planned along the Fisherman's Trail, which is considered one of the most beautiful coastal hiking trails in Europe. This hike is a so-called comfortable hike: during the day we hike with a light bag, enjoy a moderately leisurely pace, and by evening we reach a place to stay that has all the amenities of a civilized world. We don't cook our meals over a campfire, we don't chew on pocket snacks to get the energy we need, but we eat at breakfast tables, cafes, and taverns.
This hike is right for you , if you appreciate beautiful nature and enjoy walking, have previously hiked in a group and like it, or if you want to try this type of recreation for the first time. Our hike is not physically or mentally demanding, to participate in the hike you need the physical fitness of a person with a completely normal active attitude to life and normal leisure clothes/shoes. Just get up from your office desk and let's go catch some sun and experiences!
The Fisherman's Trail is 226 kilometers long in total, and our plan is to walk about 110 kilometers of it in five days, from Vale da Telha to Lagos. We will hike along the coast, which also means that we will pass by nice beaches on our way, where we will definitely refresh ourselves. Some beaches have such powerful waves that we will simply enjoy the view, but there are also many beaches that it would be a sin to pass by without swimming. At the end of March, the water is pleasantly cooling, but completely swimmable. There will also be cafes along the way where we can rest our feet and get acquainted with local dishes.
Of course, we will take many photo breaks - the nature on the coast is beautiful, the views of the ocean are enchanting and the spring sea of flowers will probably not leave anyone indifferent. Our goal is to see the part of Portugal that is not very popular with tourists - we will get to know how simple people live in villages, what the nature of the coastal areas is like and of course admire the endless ocean views without the smell of plowing typical of the Baltic Sea 😊. The Fisherman's Trail is pleasantly deserted in March, so we can enjoy all of it.
Time We keep it calm so we can still enjoy life. In the afternoon we reach our place to stay, where we can rest. Places to stay has been selected according to two criteria – either one that would offer so-called experiential accommodation with its own special place or atmosphere (such as a cozy glamping-style tent camp in the middle of nature or a unique fishing village) or one that would be a comfortable hotel to motivate a tired vacationer.
Breakfastsare included in the price.
The price also includes baggage transfer – in the morning we pack up all the things we don't need for the day trip, put them in the car, and in the evening the things are already waiting in the room. We keep the day bag light – a drink, a snack, and swimming gear. We probably don't need anything else.
The weather in Portugal at the end of March is pleasant, around 20-25 degrees Celsius, and rain is rare. So you don't need to bring a lot of clothes. Hiking equipment is completely primitive – comfortable lightweight hiking shoes and regular sportswear. A hat and sunscreen. The whole story!

Schedule and equipment
hiking days
We will hike on the Fishermen's hiking trail for a total of five days and approximately 110 km (March 21.03-March 25.03).
We hike about 20 km a day (well, some days it might be a few kilometers more) and we estimate that it will take 6-7 hours.
During the hike, we only carry a light daypack with water, snacks, swimwear, etc. Other equipment will be transported in a support vehicle.
During the hike, we will stay in hotels, but also, for example, in a genuine fishing village and a glamping tent camp in the middle of nature. The places to stay have been chosen so that if you don't get a cultural experience, you will at least be comfortable and enjoyable. Experience accommodation that offers amenities is preferred.
We start the morning with a hearty breakfast that is included in the price. We have lunch at tavernas along the way, and for dinner, the group looks for a nice place to exchange impressions of the day and get acquainted with Portuguese food.
The hike does not require any special equipment - you should have comfortable hiking shoes that support your feet (unless you are very used to walking off-road). Experienced hikers can also manage with running shoes. Light rainwear could be a good idea, but in general, the clothes you would love to wear on a warm summer day are more appropriate. A hat is essential.
You don't have to worry that you won't be able to walk for five days - we have a support vehicle - you can also decide to rest instead of hiking. This hike has that luxury!
We are hiking at the end of March, during the so-called Easter week, so that working people can have a super refreshing vacation with only 4 days of vacation. This time is also the ideal hiking weather in terms of weather. Then the days are with a pleasant temperature of 20-25 C, the evenings and nights are cooler and the chance of rain is quite small. There are no annoying insects either, the ocean water is invigorating, but completely swimmable.
before and after the hike
We arrive at Faro airport (20.03.2027) and then gather with the whole group to move together to the starting point of the hike, Vale da Telha. If we arrive in Faro in the morning, we can also look around there and move to the starting point of the hike in the evening. Exactly according to the group's wishes. We move together to the starting point of the hike by minibus, where we settle into our rooms so that we can start our journey tomorrow.
After the hike, we will have one full day off (26.03.2027) - we will use this time to get to know the local life and also enjoy a joint final dinner with local delicacies.
Anyone who wishes can extend their stay in Portugal. The adventure guide will also kindly share ideas for how to spend their extended vacation.
NB! There may be minor changes to the schedule and planned activities - for example, due to weather and conditions or passenger requests.

Don't worry, let's do it!
Is this hike suitable for me?
Absolutely! But in order to make the hike enjoyable, it is still recommended to invest in preparation. An active and sporty lifestyle is helpful for this hike, and to enjoy the hike, the prerequisite is that you like walking. You will be able to enjoy the hike better if you practice longer hikes in Estonia. When registering for this hike, you will also get access to mountaineering lectures and an invitation to glacier training, but these are more of the knowledge you would need for another of your future adventures. Elamus+ practice hike is undoubtedly a good helper.
But I don't have any hiking gear, who can afford to buy it?!
Good equipment helps to enjoy the hike, but you don't really need anything special on a hiking trip in Portugal. Light rainproof clothing is probably the best special equipment to have on hand. The guide, who has inspected the trails with his own eyes, will also give you advice on equipment. Feel free to ask!
Okay, I registered. Now what?
To make the hike more enjoyable, we recommend participating in our preparatory events before the trip - it's also part of the fun. Elamus+ also organizes preparatory hiking training and, if desired, we can provide advice on suitable insurance and equipment, etc.
But in principle, you can also just keep an eye on the group chats, buy a ticket at the right time, and show up at the airport with your gear.
