Corfu Walking Tour 2027

Hiking through Corfu

All spots on this trip are full.

But come to Elba Island in the fall to enjoy Italy and catch some sun! See more: Elba Island Hike

The Corfu walking tour takes us along the coasts, small villages, olive groves and forest roads, and not a single day goes by without us visiting some wonderful local taverna. Our hiking route takes us on paths that are away from tourism, we enjoy nature and solitude, but by the evening we reach “civilization”, where we can experience the hustle and bustle of Corfu - dinners with the best local dishes and swimming in the sea.

This is an active holiday trip, which is also full of beauty: transparent blue sea water, abundant hanging bougainvillea vines, lovely villages and olive groves. And of course, traditional Greek and Corfiot food - Greek yogurt, honey, fruits, seafood, Greek salad, cheeses, wines... Tempting!

Our day trips are with a small backpack, does not require top physical shape and we spend all nights in double or triple rooms between the sheets. Breakfast is included in the price and so is the farewell dinner, but otherwise we reserve the freedom to grab a bite from home-made eateries along the way. That's the most enjoyable way! We spend most of our evenings in seaside accommodations so that we can enjoy the view as well as the pleasant sea water.

The goal is to hike across Corfu. Tourists do not mainly come to Corfu to hike, which is why the places that are intended for the average tourist are left out of our itinerary. We can enjoy the genuine and simple local life, clean and beautiful hiking trails. We hike at a leisurely pace with the goal of seeing Corfu, its daily life and small villages, and enjoying nature and exercise. To make hiking comfortable, the price also includes baggage transfer – in the morning we pack up all the things we don't need for the day trip, put them in the car, and in the evening we have the things waiting in the room. We keep our daypack light – a drink and a snack, and swimming gear. We probably don't need anything else.

The weather in Corfu at the end of May is pleasant, around 20-25 degrees Celsius, and rain is rare. So you don't need to bring a lot of clothes. Hiking equipment is completely primitive – comfortable lightweight hiking shoes and regular sportswear. A hat and sunscreen. The whole story!

If you think that untouched and diverse nature, good food, pleasant seawater, and comfortable hiking (a small bag and sheets and running shower water in the evening) are your thing, then go for it!

hiking days

  • We have six full days of hiking and we cover about 20-23km (6-8h) per day. One day is also shorter, i.e. 13km, so that we can enjoy the sun and salt water longer in the evening. The hiking pace is leisurely, we take breaks to take pictures, sit in taverns, and see the sights.

  • We start our mornings with a refreshing and rich local breakfast (Greek yogurt, fruit, coffee/tea, sandwiches) and by evening we always arrive at a place to stay that has all the comforts of the “civilized world.” We have chosen our places to stay so that when we arrive, it will still be really nice.

  • The hiking trail is varied – some days more in forests, some on sand dunes, some more in villages, some days there are uphill climbs, etc. However, no special equipment is needed. You can also do it with sneakers, but light hiking boots are more comfortable and hiking socks are even more comfortable. But you can also do this hike with completely normal sports equipment (or if you are a thrifty packer, you can go with hand luggage)!

  • During the hike, we will also visit the sights of Corfu. For example, the village of Old Perithia will be on our way, which consists of about 130 Venetian-style stone buildings, where taverns with a medieval atmosphere have also been preserved. We will also visit the village of Kalam, which has nice waterfront taverns, such as the White House, where Lawrence Durrell wrote his novel "Prospero`s Cell". This village was also the filming location for the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only". And our hiking route will also include the highest peak of Corfu, Pantokrator (917m), with a monastery at the top.

  • At the end of May, the weather in Corfu is warm or even very warm. So the daypack is light, we take enough water and sunscreen. Our luggage is transported by car from one overnight stay to another, which means we can take more things with us than on a regular hike (unless you want to come with only hand luggage!).

  • Most of our six hiking days end at the beach, where you can enjoy the nice beach and sea water.

  • You don't have to worry that you won't be able to walk for six days - we have a support vehicle - you can also decide to rest instead of hiking. This hike has that luxury!

before and after the hike

We arrive (22.05) at Corfu (Kérkyra) International Airport (CFU), where a transfer awaits us, which will take us to a hotel in the south of the island. We will dedicate this day to resting after the flight. The choice is ours: either we will try the incredibly pleasant light blue iridescent sea water at Santa Barbara Beach or we will head to visit the largest village in South Corfu, Lefkimmi, and its famous riverside tavernas. However, if we arrive in Corfu in the morning, we can also decide to explore the capital instead and only head to Santa Barbara with a transfer in the evening. Therefore, the activities depend on the time of arrival, but in general this day is characterized by the words “free schedule”.

After the hike, we have one free day (29.05) - we will use this time to get to know the local life or hang out on the beach, then read the book we hopefully brought with us, or we will go on another spontaneous hike 😊

In the evening, we will enjoy a joint closing dinner with local delicacies.

At this time, the weather in Corfu is very pleasant and the tourists have not yet conquered the island. So, for those who have more time, there is a chance to stay longer. The water is warm, the food is good and the climate is pleasant!

NB! There may be minor changes to the schedule and planned activities - for example, due to weather and conditions or passenger requests.

Don't worry, let's do it!

Is this hike suitable for me?

Absolutely! This is an active vacation that is affordable for any adventurer with an active lifestyle.

But I don't have any hiking gear, who can afford to buy it?!

The climate in Greece is such that normal sportswear, a hat and light hiking shoes are sufficient for hiking. During the day we will travel with a light bag. So, fortunately, there will be no major investments for this hike!

Okay, I registered. Now what?

To make the hike more enjoyable, we recommend participating in our preparatory events before the trip - it's also part of the fun. Elamus+ also organizes preparatory hiking training and, if desired, we can provide advice on suitable insurance and equipment, etc.
