A walking tour through beautiful Corfu
The group is full! It is possible to register for the waiting list.
The Corfu walking tour takes you along the coast, small villages, olive groves and forest roads, where not a day goes by without visiting some wonderful local taverna. Do you know that feeling when, while walking, slightly tired already in your bones, you see a place to stop in the distance with wonderful local food and drinks…? If you don’t know, then these moments have been added to this tour enough to realize that this is exactly what a blessing is. 😊
Our hiking route runs on trails that are away from the tourist crowds, we enjoy nature and solitude, but by evening we reach "civilization" and then we can partake in the hustle and bustle of Corfu - dinners in tavernas and swimming in the sea.
This is an active holiday trip, which is also full of beauty: clear blue sea water, abundant hanging bougainvillea vines, lovely villages and olive groves. And of course, traditional Greek and Corfiot food - Greek yogurt, honey, fruits, seafood, Greek salad, cheeses, wines... tempting!
Our day trips are with a small backpack, do not require good physical preparation, and we spend all nights in double or triple rooms between the sheets. Breakfast is included in the price, as is the farewell dinner, but otherwise we leave ourselves free to grab a bite from the tavernas we come across along the way. That's the most enjoyable way!
If you think that untouched and diverse nature, good food, pleasant seawater, and comfortable hiking (a small bag and sheets and running shower water in the evening) are your thing, then go for it!
The end of May is the perfect time to visit Corfu - the daytime temperature is 25 °In the C range, there is generally no precipitation and the sea water is also completely swimmable. This is an ideal summer warm-up hike!

Schedule and activities
DAY 1 - Arrival in Corfu
We have finally arrived on this wonderful Greek island! We arrive at Corfu (Kérkyra) International Airport (CFU), where a transfer awaits us, which will take us to a hotel in the south of the island. We will dedicate this day to resting after the flight. The choice is ours: either we will try the incredibly pleasant light blue iridescent sea water at Santa Barbara Beach or we will head to visit Lefkimmi, the largest village in southern Corfu, and its famous riverside tavernas. Activities depend on the time of arrival, but in general this day is characterized by the words “free plan”.
Included accommodation in Santa Barbara
DAY 2 - Santa Barbara - Paramonas
After a proper Greek breakfast, a "Warm-up Day" awaits us in Paramonas.
The day will be spent on mostly flat terrain, during which we will move along the coast and also pass the beach from the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only". We will hike over sand dunes covered with juniper and cedar forests and pass Lake Korission, where you can meet a variety of wild birds. Our destination is Paramonas, where we can end the hike with a nice and well-deserved swim and enjoy the sunset and delicious Greek food at a seaside tavern.
We hike 5-6 hours (20 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Paramonas
DAY 3 - Paramonas - Benitses
After breakfast, we continue our journey and set a goal to cross the island from west to east!
Today is a serious hiking day. We start the day with a rather steep climb that takes us to the inland villages of Ano and Kato Pavliana. This is the perfect opportunity to see how a Corfiot lives. Wonderful small village roads that wind between houses. We follow the footpaths to the village of Vouniatades, cross the valley of the Messonghi River and meander through an olive grove. After passing the village of Strongili, we continue our journey along the old cobblestone road to reach the village of Komatiana and from there to Benitse and the east coast of the island. And, as is typical of Greece, our journey also includes some nice tavernas where we can rest our feet and enjoy the delicacies. We will spend the night in Benitse.
Benitses is a tourist area in Corfu, which, in addition to various accommodation options, also has taverns and restaurants, a small harbor for yachts, and Benitses Beach, which is renowned for its crystal clear sea water.
We hike 6-7 hours (17 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Benitses
DAY 4 - Benitses - Pelekas
After breakfast, the transfer will take us to the village of Stavros, from where we will continue our journey.
From Stavros we follow a pleasant footpath to the village of Ano Garounan, then for a change from the fairly flat hiking trail we climb to the top of Agii Deka (10 Saints) mountain (576 m). We reach a walled garden with an abandoned monastery, which is an ideal place to rest after the uphill climb. The path then follows a cobblestone mule track to the village of Agii Deka and then smaller roads to Sinarades. An undulating path with magnificent views of the west coast and the hinterland takes us to Pelekase. In Pelekase you can enjoy the sunset from the historical monument “Kaisers Throne” dating back to the era of Kaiser Wilhelm II, which offers a panoramic view of almost the entire island of Corfu and the Albanian shores. However, to do this you have to walk about 800 meters uphill from the village of Pelekase.
We hike 6-7 hours (18 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Pelekas
DAY 5 - Pelekas - Liapades
After breakfast we continue our journey.
First, the road takes us to Mirtiotissa beach, which Lawrence Durrell, for example, has called "the loveliest beach in the world", but which is currently also known as Corfu's unofficial nudist beach. The route continues past the Mirtiotissa monastery to the village of Vatos, from where the "olive road" along the banks of the Ropa River, lined with pastures and willow trees, takes us to the village of Giannades. In the evening, we reach the ancient village of Liapades, where we will stay overnight.
The day's hiking route is quite flat, passing villages and olive groves, once again with wonderful views of the coast, and there are no shortage of village taverns along the way, where it's nice to have a refreshment.
We hike 7-8 hours (23 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Liapades
DAY 6 - Liapades - Agios Georgios
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Corfu.
Today's part of the trail starts from the footpath that leads to the village of Paleokastritsa. Passing the village, we move along a lovely network of cobblestone footpaths into a more mountainous area again. There, the path takes us to the villages of Lakones and Bella Vistasta, where the views are like postcards. From there, we move along paths through olive groves to the village of Krin, from where the trail follows one of the most wonderful footpaths in Greece, which runs along the cliff and finally descends to the beautiful long beach resort of Agios Georgios. Today is an easier hiking day, allowing you to enjoy the tavernas and the long beach 😊
During our day trip, we can visit the ancient fortress of Butsantsi Angelokastro, located at the tip of the island’s northeastern coast, near the village of Paleokastritsi. The powerful fortification was built by Emperor Michael II Komnenos in the early 13th century and was named after his father Angelos. The fortress has been the target of repeated attempts to conquer it, and like Corfu itself, it has never surrendered.
We hike 5-6 hours (13 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Agios Georgios
DAY 7 - agios georgios - agios spiridon/kalami
After breakfast, we drive to the village of Spartilas, from where we continue our walking journey.
From the village of Spartillas we move along a mountain footpath. The journey takes us to the Taxiarchis Chapel with frescoed walls. We continue along the footpath and finally reach the highest peak of the island, Pantokrator (917 m). At the top of Pantokrator there is a monastery and a café, you can take pictures of the peak, explore the area, rest your feet and then we descend on a mountain path with beautiful views down to the ancient Byzantine village of Paleo Perithia, located in a high valley.
The village of Old Perithia is an architectural gem built on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator in the north of Corfu, combining the beauty of nature with rich architecture. The village consists of approximately 130 buildings built of stone in the Venetian style. Years ago, most of the village's inhabitants left due to the plague epidemic, and gradually the place became abandoned and deserted. Nowadays, Perithia has cozy medieval-style taverns where you can taste traditional Greek and Corfiot cuisine. We will definitely do the same.
After a refreshing stop, we continue towards the coast and reach the sea of Almiros, the northernmost point of Corfu. From here, the path takes us along a low cliff to the beach of Agios Spiridon, where our day's journey ends. Now we enjoy a swim and/or a meal or snack. At a time convenient for us, a transfer will take us to our accommodation in the area of the village of Kalami. The village of Kalami has nice waterfront taverns, such as the White House, where Lawrence Durrell wrote his novel "Prospero`s Cell". This village was also the filming location for the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only".
We hike 8-9 hours (25 km) during the day.
Price includes breakfast and overnight stay in Kalam.
DAY 8 - today is a day off! or not…?
When we wake up in the morning, breakfast awaits us and then we can allow ourselves a well-deserved day off, i.e. just laze on the beach and then finish reading that book that we hopefully brought with us 😊
Those who still haven't had enough of hiking can head back to the hiking trail with the adventure train. We would take a circular hiking trail and visit three villages. We would travel along the mountain roads and look over the village of Porta, then take a peek at what's going on in the village of Meggoulas, and then descend to the village of Katavolos and then head down to the sea.
In the evening, we will gather at the local tavern in Kalam and celebrate the end of our hike with a festive dinner together.
During the day we rest or hike for 5-6 hours (15 km)
Price includes breakfast, dinner and overnight stay in Kalamata.
Day 9 Back home!
After breakfast, a transfer will take us to the airport.
Breakfast included
NB! There may be minor changes to the schedule and planned activities - for example, due to weather and conditions or passenger requests.

Don't worry, let's do it!
Is this hike suitable for me?
Absolutely! This is an active vacation that is affordable for any adventurer with an active lifestyle.
But I don't have any hiking gear, who can afford to buy it?!
The climate in Greece is such that normal sportswear, a hat and light hiking shoes are sufficient for hiking. During the day we will travel with a light bag. So, fortunately, there will be no major investments for this hike!
Okay, I registered. Now what?
To make the hike more enjoyable, we recommend participating in our preparatory events before the trip - it's also part of the fun. Elamus+ also organizes preparatory hiking training and, if desired, we can provide advice on suitable insurance and equipment, etc.
