Kondimootor 30/50/70:
Scissors Crisp

Wintery and crisp Kondimootor takes us to Kääriku, where a diverse and exciting trail awaits. Depending on the snow master's decision, we'll be sloshing in the snow, sliding on the ice, braving the mud, or all of the above! We'll be touring the best tracks in Kääriku and the Otepää region. Kondimootor have started from Kääriku sports base before - the course is partly the same, but not quite, and of course, in the winter wonderland, you can expect an unrecognizable different nature compared to summer. There are still three courses to choose from: a leisurely 30 km, a strenuous 50 km and a bone-breaking 70 km. You can choose the pace according to your abilities - hiking comfortably, running at a brisk pace or both in turn.

There are drink and snack points along the trail where you can refresh yourself with good and better food. There is also one larger food point where you can get proper nourishment in the form of hiking food. Our lovely organizing team will be helping and encouraging the participants at the points. Bring your friends and come and test yourself. In any case, a pleasant Saturday with a sweet sense of achievement is guaranteed!

Important information

Kondimootor is open to all who wish, but it should be borne in mind that it is still a fairly long hiking distance. Therefore, assess your fitness and ability accordingly and choose a distance (and start time) that is within your reach. The organizers do not take responsibility for any injuries, damage, etc. that may occur during the event - participants participate in the event entirely at their own risk. However, this disclaimer should not discourage you, it is a fun and exciting event!

COMPETITION CENTER: START AND FINISH

The competition center, or start and finish, is located at the Kääriku Sports Center (see on Google Maps). A more detailed map of the competition center will be included in the pre-competition information letter. When you arrive, follow the directions. Kondimootori tags.

Before going to the track, you must go through the competition center, where we will register you and give you competition materials. There is a toilet available at the competition center.

The start is open. at 08.00-10.00 and the finish line closes at 23.00Competition materials will be available from 07.30.

PARKING

You can park in the Kääriku Sports Center parking lots and, if they are full, on the nearby roads. When parking, make sure that you do not block other cars or obstruct traffic. Also, follow the current parking and traffic regulations.

TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION

There is no organized transportation and the course is a circle (start and finish are in the same place). When it comes to transportation, we recommend using the help of family or acquaintances if possible so that you don't have to drive back yourself when you're tired.

There is no official overnight stay. If desired, you must find your own accommodation, although a limited number of accommodations are also available at the Kääriku Sports Center (see accommodation options here).

There is a laundry service at the Kääriku Sports Center for an additional fee of €3.

COMPETITION MATERIALS

Competition materials will be available 30 minutes before the start (07.30 am) and until the start closes (10.00 a.m.). If possible, those completing longer distances should register earlier (8-9 am) and those completing 30 km later (9-10 am). This is how we reduce queues.

Each competitor will receive the following materials from the starting point before entering the track:

  • Trail map

  • Race number (+ safety pins if necessary)

  • Kondimootori stickers

Once you have received your competition materials and registered, you can head to the track starting at 8.00 am.

COURSE

The hiking/racing trail is circular, meaning the start and finish are in the same place. The trail passes through various forest and hiking trails, light traffic roads, and to a lesser extent, roads and side roads. There are also some asphalt roads, but depending on the weather, they may be covered with snow. The trail also has larger and smaller ups and downs, and depending on the snow conditions, it may be difficult to pass at times. Therefore, it is worth choosing a distance that is within your reach. We will send you a more detailed trail description in the pre-race information letter.

There are practically no trail markings or direction signs on the trail (except at points), so it is strongly recommended to use a GPS navigation device (a GPS sports watch or smartphone is also suitable). You can also get a paper map from the start, but this is an emergency option. The paper map that comes with the competition materials is not a special orienteering map! It would be good if there was a map reader or at least a technically savvy navigator in the group. Fellow hikers who you can follow or ask for help from are also helpful, but of course you shouldn't rely on that alone. It is helpful to know that the first digit of the race number refers to the trail that the competitor has chosen (3 = 30 km, 5 = 50 km, 7 = 70 km).

NB! The length of the trail can be calculated with a margin of error of +/- 3 km, and in case of error, the actual distance may also be longer.

The course map (PDF and various GPS formats) with marked waypoints can be downloaded. The course map and a more detailed course description will be sent to participants in the pre-race newsletter after registration closes (i.e. approximately 5 days before the event).

CATERING AND SNACK/BEVERAGE POINTS

We have set up the following drink and snack points on the trail (the order may change):

Short course (30 km):

  1. Drink and snack point

  2. Food Force

Long trail (50 km):

  1. Drink and snack point

  2. Food Force

  3. Drink and snack point

Bonebreaker (70 km):

  1. Drink and snack point

  2. Drink and snack point

  3. Food Force

  4. Drink station (unmanned)

NB: The order of the points may change.

Drink and snack points are available for replenishing your drink supplies and for snacking on snacks (e.g. bananas, cookies, candy, etc.). In addition, each participant will receive a hiking food package and hot water for preparing it at one of the designated food points. You can choose your favorite hiking food from the options provided in the registration form; those who register after the official end of registration are not guaranteed a food selection and can choose from the reserve food on site.

We recommend that you bring your own cutlery (spoon/spork) to reduce waste; you can conveniently eat your camping food straight from the pack.

At the finish line, participants will be offered warm soup for refreshment.

Snack and food points are generally well-stocked and you don't have to worry about going hungry. Of course, if you wish or have a special diet, you can also put whatever you like in your pocket/bag. Water and other drinks are also available at each point. If possible, use your own drinking vessels to use fewer cups.

The food and snack points are staffed by cheerful helpers.

INTERRUPTION AND EMERGENCIES

In case of serious injuries or a life-threatening incident, call first. emergency number 112 and then notify the organizing team if possible (+ 372 56565159, Kristen or +372 5238441, Allan). Please save the numbers of the organizing team in your phone so that you can contact us in case of problems.

If you are completely exhausted and cannot continue on your own, please inform the organizing team and we will come to pick you up. It should be borne in mind that in difficult-to-reach places, it may take a long time for help to arrive, and until then, participants must be able to cope on their own. If possible, however, stop at the marked points where it is easier and faster for us to pick you up. We ask that you do not use this option as a convenience service, as the organizing team's resources are limited and are intended primarily for emergencies.

Also, be caring and help fellow fighters if you see someone in trouble.

PRIZES AND TIMETABLE

All successful finishers will be awarded with congratulations and a medal. We will record the participants' start and finish times and publish them to the participants after the race. To get a time accurate to the second, everyone must start their own watch. Since this is not a race and prizes are not awarded based on ranking, there is no point in making a fuss. Victory is completing the course and feeling good!

RULES

  • You must complete the trail on your own (it means on foot).

  • We ask you to stay on the trail so as not to damage the vegetation and nature.

  • Friendly dogs and other companion animals are allowed and participate for free.

  • Please be respectful of local residents.

  • Littering and any form of pollution of nature is strictly prohibited. All trash must be taken with you or thrown into a trash bag at one of the drinking points.

In case of serious violation of the rules, the organizers have the right to disqualify the participant... so far this has not been necessary, we will continue in the same spirit. :)
