Discover the peaks of Austria!
Last available spot!
This trip is a treat for those who value the thrill of a summit climb, the diversity of nature, and the meaningfulness of reaching the peak more than just high altitude. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys journeying through varied landscapes and sees the trip itself as an adventure — whether you’re a beginner mountain enthusiast or an experienced alpinist. In other words, we’re taking an alpine bus adventure through the Alps!
Wildspitze (3768 m) - the 2nd highest mountain in Austria
Wildspitze (3768 m) is a relatively easy glacial peak, ideal for a first encounter with crampons, ropes and pickaxes. There are several different routes to the summit, some of which are more challenging. We will check the trail conditions, weather and motivation on site and choose the final ascent route accordingly. Have fun!
Grossglockner (3798 m) - the highest peak in Austria.
Grossglockner (3798 m) is located in the East Tyrol region of Austria and is the highest point in Austria. Like Grossvenediger, the climb to the summit of Grossglockner is very exciting and varied, including gravel roads, rock climbing, a glacier and a steep summit ridge (even steeper than the previous mountain). We also have the great honor of spending the night before the summit in Austria's highest mountain hut, at 3400 m.
We will start the trip together in a minibus from Estonia. We will travel through Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, stopping overnight at a hotel along the way. The minibus ride may seem long, but it gives you plenty of time to get to know your fellow travelers. The bus is also road trip giving us more freedom to see different areas and make stops wherever we want.

Schedule and activities
Day 1 (June 22.06) – Time to Board the Bus and Head to Europe!
Our trip starts early in the morning in Tartu. We pack ourselves and our equipment into a comfortable Volkswagen bus and head towards Poland. We take breaks as needed, trying to keep them as compact as possible. We spend the night in a hotel near the Polish highway.
Driving hours: 13-15
Accommodation: hotel in Poland
Day 2 (23.06) - Midsummer's Eve in Austria!
After a refreshing breakfast, we continue our journey towards Austria. In the evening, we arrive at a cozy hotel in the village of Sautens, where we set up our tent camp. On the way, we also visit a grocery store to stock up on food for the hike that begins tomorrow.
The hotel is run by Estonians living in Austria, with whom we can have a barbecue and campfire.
Driving hours: 9-10
Accommodation: In cozy apartments
Day 3 (24.06) - WE START HIKING
In the morning we have breakfast together, leave the hotel comforts behind and head towards the mountain hut. We hike across green alpine meadows and rocky slopes, getting to know the local flora and fauna - cows, Alpine hummingbirds, alpine roses, etc. We arrive at the hut quite early, which gives us time to familiarize ourselves with the next day's route, practice knots and movement on the glacier, and socialize. In the evening we are treated to a very refreshing three-course dinner and an early sleep.
Ascent meters: 800 m
Duration of the hike: 3 hours
Overnight stay: in a hut (2844 m)
Day 4 (25.06) - First peak!
After an early breakfast at the hut, we set off towards the summit. Today we can fully put the knowledge we learned earlier about moving on the glacier into practice, because the glacier starts right at the hut. We hike at a pace that suits everyone and take breaks as needed. After summit pictures and congratulations, we descend back to the Hostel and celebrate our achievements.
Ascent meters: 900 m
Descent meters: 1700 m
Duration of the hike: approx. 5-7 hours
Accommodation: Apartment
Day 5 (26.06) - we change valleys
Day off! We drive to the village of Kalsi, where our new mountain will start tomorrow. We explore the nature of the area and the local shops. By the way, there is also a crag, where you can climb bolted rock routes.
Driving hours: 2
Overnight stay: in a personal tent with amenities at a tented camp
Day 6 (27.06) - Heading to the roof of Austria
We start our journey towards the summit of the Grossglockner. We hike on a gravel path, scramble between rocks, then put on crampons, pick up a pickaxe and move across the glacier in a roped-off formation. Before the hut, we can also scramble on rocks with crampons for a while.
We will spend the night at an altitude of 3400 m in the Erzherzog Johann hut, which is also the highest hut in Austria.
Ascent meters: 1500 m
Duration of the hike: 6-7 hours
Day 7 (28.06) - Der Gipfel wartet!
Summit day! We get up early and march just 300 vertical meters above the hut to try to reach Austria's highest peak. The road will include glaciers, rock climbing, and a steep summit ridge that requires precise footwork and can make some people's hearts flutter. But nothing difficult! After the summit, we descend back to the parking lot and celebrate our great achievement at the campsite.
NB! If the weather forecast for that day promises worse weather and we have enough energy when we arrive at the hut the day before, we will climb to the summit the day before. In this case, that day's energy will be spent only on the descent (and celebration).
Ascent meters: 300 m
Descent meters: 1800 m
Duration of the hike: 7 hours
Day 8 (29.06) - Backup day
A backup day in case the weather forces us to play around a bit on peak days. If we don't need a peak day, we reward ourselves with activities in the surrounding area. If the weather is nice, we'll go hiking on some great via ferrata trails (rope-secured hiking trails along the edge of a cliff). If it's rainy, we can go explore Salzburg or, for example, climb in the indoor climbing hall there.
Driving hours: 3-5
Overnight stay: in a tented camp with personal tent amenities
Day 9-10 (June 30.06-01.07) - back home
We pack up and say goodbye to the Alps, because we have a long drive home ahead of us. To avoid spending the last night on the Polish highway and to get home earlier the next day, we can take turns driving through the night. Of course, this is if there are enough drivers in the group and the whole group agrees to it.
Driving hours: 20
Overnight stay: on the bus
NB! There may be minor changes to the schedule and planned activities - for example, due to weather and conditions or passenger requests.
Don't worry, let's do it!
My altitude record is Munamägi. Can I still do it?!
Since these peaks are not technically too difficult, of course! However, it is important that your body is used to physical exertion (longer runs or bike rides + strength training). It is also important to train your mental side to cope with long physical days and steep slopes. It also helps if steep slopes do not scare you too much.
But I don't have any hiking gear, who can afford to buy it?
You'll still have to spend a little, but not much. Hiking and climbing equipment can be rented at a very reasonable price and, of course, borrowed from friends. In addition, you can use any kind of clothing you have - for example, a ski jacket is also very good for the mountain. The more resourceful can manage with almost no additional expenses.
Will I survive?
It's an extreme sport/hobby, but you shouldn't be too afraid here. Of course, there are certain dangers in the mountains and you have to take that into account, but at the same time, you could get hit by a bus walking across the street tomorrow. The most important thing for the group leader is to ensure the safety of the participants - to do this, we learn and use correct mountaineering techniques and turn around if the weather gets too bad. The point is still to have an enjoyable experience and not let this mountain go away. ;)
Okay, I registered. Now what?
Well, theoretically you could just vanish into thin air and show up on a plane, but then you risk discovering “oops, I have the wrong cats and what is this middleman node?” on the spot. It can happen, but a warm recommendation is to participate in preparatory events - that's part of the fun. We organize preparatory hiking trainings, give advice on suitable insurance and equipment, where to rent cheaply, what to train for, etc. The package price includes one winter and one summer preparatory training, as well as access to online alpinism lectures. We will definitely check the collected equipment just before the start of the trip and send reminders about important things.

Travel documents and footnotes
The participant is responsible for the validity and condition of their travel documents. For this trip you will need:
ID card/passport;
sports insurance suitable for mountain hiking (read more on the FAQ page). A suitable sports insurance policy must be carried and is a prerequisite for participating in the mountain hike;
travel insurance.
We recommend that you take out travel insurance immediately after receiving confirmation of your travel registration so that you are also covered for longer-term health problems!
Plan your trip early and start training for it. We will organize several trial trips, training sessions and recommend training plans beforehand. It would be a shame if the peak was only behind the physique. Also a good opportunity to get in shape. ;)
Summits are not guaranteed. As you might expect, weather is king in the mountains. So it is entirely possible that weather or dangerous conditions will prevent us from even attempting the summit. Nevertheless, it will definitely be an awesome experience!
Although at the end of the day everyone is still responsible for their own actions and consequences, we do our best to mitigate the risks associated with mountaineering. As a result, the group leader has the right to make ongoing decisions about the competence of the participants, the suitability of their equipment, physical/mental capacity, etc. and, if necessary, for example, to prohibit participation on summit day if it endangers the health of the group or the participant themselves. Hopefully, of course, there will be no need for this.
