A magical journey of discovery
Time Travel in the Kassinurme Mountains is a meaningful active walk through a landscape shaped by the Ice Age and Kalevipoeg.
The landscape of Kassinurme is varied and mystical. Humans are equally varied and mystical. Moving through the hilly landscape, we can test our abilities to notice, hear and feel ourselves in the midst of nature and nature within ourselves. We listen to stories from ancient times to the present day.
In the second half of the trip, we will try to embody an ancient person and create something with our own hands. Feeling the power of the ancient grove, we will perform the ritual activities of our distant ancestors.
By stepping out of our comfort zone, we create contact with nature, learn to draw energy and strength, which helps us cope with everyday problems in life. The mountainous landscape provides a pleasant strain on the body, cleansing the body cells and thoughts.

Equipment
When hiking, we ask that you wear footwear that allows you to move safely on snowy and slippery hills. Clothing should preferably be layered according to the weather and activity. If you wish, you can bring walking sticks, which will provide support in the mountainous terrain. Bring a non-alcoholic drink and snack to fuel your body.
From the mountains of Kassinurme
When driving from Jõgeva towards Tartu, after crossing the Pedja River, you have probably noticed a typical two to three km long ridge with a spruce forest, fields, meadows and isolated farms on the left. At the Kalevi railway crossing, two signposts point to the Kassinurmäe mountains and the nature study trail, located one and a half km away. Coming from Kalevi, the entrance gate is visible on the right. A spacious parking lot awaits visitors.
The "nests" of slowly melting ice banks have been preserved as hollows and depressions (sulps), some of which are clearly circular. To better understand the formation of the surface landform, let's create a mental picture of a few km thick ice layer that has moved over here, remained in place, and split and melted! The very complex combinations of "superimposed" bulges and oozes, together with the depressions between them, have created one of the most impressive ice age museums in Estonia.
