Kerttu Olvet
Mountains and hiking have been with me since my earliest memories. I was probably a 4-5 year old girl when my mother took me to the highest peaks of Norway for the first time. Even so, my backpack also contained some elements of group equipment, such as canned beef or a large saucepan for preparing lunch.
As an adult, I started to wander around independently and have now hiked or climbed in nearly 80 countries. There is something so enchanting when the conditions are poor, there is a storm raging outside, drinking water has to be melted from the snow, but the tent poles hold up, so the roof is in place and the sleeping bag is warm. Stepping out of your comfort zone is like starting a new chapter in life.
