Hendrik Erikson
I believe in personal reinvention, so after the pandemic years, I decided to take a step back and say "Yes, let's do it!" to every new challenge. This step has led me to mountaineering training, to multi-hundred-meter cliff faces and snowy peaks - a complete change from my previous life as a computer scientist and information security nerd. Along the way, I have met many wonderful, ambitious people who have become the best companions on new adventures. After all, company is what makes hard physical effort fun.
During my mountaineering training, I became interested in the possibility of training and adapting to difficult conditions. Now I am studying to become a mountaineering coach to apply this knowledge, challenge myself and take other enthusiasts on the road. My current ambition is to reach a sufficient level to climb a UIAA IV alpine route.
In addition to mountain hiking, I also like to bike around Estonia, tent on a rack. I try to take a camera with me on every hike to capture some awesome shots in addition to my memories.
Main travel interests: rock climbing, mountain hiking, bike tours.
Language skills: Estonian, English.
Training/courses: EKR3 mountaineering coach qualification (in progress); Elamus+ Mountaineering training (assistant coach, 2024-…); Ministry of Climbing bouldering ABC course; Finnish lead climber card.
Some peaks:Matterhorn (4478 m); Lyskamm (4532 m); Breithorn, Pollux, Castor and some other Alpine peaks.
